I'm not a sports fan. I have bet on the July and I have 1 ticket in most Lotto and Powerball draws - as a donation to the poor and the greedy.

I tried the slot machines in casinos a few times, usually losing my allocated budget. Then I thought about who was paying for the enormous building and staff and realised that it was the losers. The "house" takes a percentage of all bets, so the chance of a player making a profit is very slim. They would not provide the service if they were not making the profit.

South Africans have moved from having to travel across the border for gambling to having the facility on their phones. I worry for addicts who may find it a lot harder to resist in this omnipresent form.
